Where do you find “Awe”?

With the state of the world feeling deeply unsettling, I’ve been trying to stay open to moments of awe in my days. There is a maple tree on my block that has started its fall transformation. The red leaves popped up one day on the north side. It was as if the tree had been brushed with a quick stroke of paint. Slowly over the last two weeks, the red had migrated to the south. Each day when I get home from work, I notice myself checking the tree’s journey of becoming red. I’m not sure there is a big metaphor here, but the bright red maple leaves contrasting against the summer green is such a sweet moment in my day. I hope it can bring you a tiny bit of awe too.
