Perspective, Context, and History

This video has been one of my favorites for years.  It is fantastical and has a little shock value in it, but the theme of understanding the history, lived experiences of another, and what is the “norm” for another has helped me as a relational therapist more times than I can count.

To me, this video is not about whose side we take or who is right or wrong; it is about knowing that we are shaped by what we grew up “knowing”.  It also does a great job of underscoring the need for being witnessed, sometimes more than someone needing to solve our issues for/with us.

So many great conversations have come out of this video with my clients….so I decided to bring back this “oldie but a goodie”.  Watch it and get everything out of it….or don’t.  Take what you need and leave what does not fit where you found it.

Glad you are here!
